Terry Klassen [BSc(Med)/82, MD/82]
Appointed to the Governing Council of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) for a three-year term.
Klassen is a pediatric emergency physician, a clinician scientist and one of Canada's top pediatric researchers. He is director of research for the Manitoba Institute of Child Health. At the University of Manitoba, he is associate dean, academic, in the Faculty of Medicine and a professor and director of research in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health.
In 2011, Klassen and his colleagues received a CIHR-CMAJ Top Achievements in Health Research Award in recognition of their work in improving health outcomes of acutely ill and injured children visiting pediatric emergency departments across Canada.

Received the 2012 Distinguished Clinician Award from the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology in recognition of significant contributions toward improved understanding of the clinical pharmacology of medications used to treat allergic diseases.
Gerald Niznick [DMD/66] is the 2012 recipient of the Alumni of Distinction Award from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba.

Ray Bollman [BSA (Hons)/70, MSc/71] received an honorary doctorate from Brandon University (BU) at their 100th convocation in June of 2011. Bollman, was also a Stanley Knowles Visiting Professor at BU from September to December 1996.

Pauline Clarke [MEd/85], the Winnipeg School Division's chief superintendent, in recognition of her work in inner-city education.
James Coyne [BA(Hons)/31, LLD/61], the second governor of the Bank of Canada from 1955 to 1961, who helped promote the autonomy of the central bank.
Etienne Gaboury [BA(LatPh)/53, BArch/58, LLD/87], an architect who designed Winnipeg's Royal Canadian Mint building, the new St. Boniface Cathedral, and the Esplanade Riel.
Crystal Marie Kolt [BMus(MusEd)/83], the musical director of the Flin Flon Community Choir who has helped develop the arts in Northern Manitoba.
Art Miki [BEd/69, MEd/75], a leader in the Japanese Canadian community, who helped bring forward the country's historic Japanese Canadian Redress Agreement in 1988.
